| Background | Rishi has marketed this tea with so much hype that I was fully prepared to hate it. | |
| Dry Leaf Appearence: | golden brown leaf, reminds me of a Yunnan Gold | |
| Water to Leaf Ratio: | 7 gr of Leaf in 150 ml of water | |
| Brewing Method: | Gungfu in 150ml Yixing pot. No Rinse. Used boiling mountain spring water collected at the source. | |
| Wet Leaf Appearence: | ||
| 1st Steep | 30 seconds: Very lively, rich, cocoa, strong green bamboo essence, spice cake | |
| 2nd Steep | 15 seconds: WOW, to quote Colonel Sherman T. Potter; not enough O's in smoooooth to describe this steep. Followed by a touch of honey in the finish. | |
| 3rd Steep | 30 seconds: Smoothness ever so slightly yielding to that green bamboo note a bit. | |
| 4th Steep | 60 seconds: Back to smooth with a cocoa finish | |
| Subsequent Steeps | Got several more steeps out of this. They got smoother and sweeter until they finally started getting weak. | |
| Conclusion | Against all odds I actually like this tea, a lot! Although I still dont buy into their hype and I think most of their marketing jargon is pure malarkey. I think I have found this same tea from another source, I will post a follow-up here after I try it. At $120 a pound I would have to find it elsewhere! | |
