| Background | This tea cake is composed entirely of aged raw material but taken from the years of 1998 through 2004. The cake was compressed in 2006 and enjoys a unique flavor. | |
| Dry Leaf Appearence: | small size leaves that are browning a little already | |
| Water to Leaf Ratio: | 8 gr of Leaf in 180 ml of water | |
| Brewing Method: | In a large infuser in a glass cup. | |
| Wet Leaf Appearence: | Lots of small size leaves, many broken. Still quite green in appearance. | |
| 1st Steep | Brilliant golden liquid, with a very slight cloudiness. Mild but with a bit of a bite in the background. Still tastes very young. | |
| 2nd Steep | A stronger taste with more bite and bitterness. Liquid still strong and golden. | |
| 3rd Steep | Still golden liquid but the tea is starting to smooth out a bit and mellow, but still has a touch of bitterness in the background. | |
| 4th Steep | Tea continues to smooth out and it actually much nicer here than in the earlier brews. | |
| Subsequent Steeps | I got at least three more cups out of this tea. It has a lot of strenth in it as far as brews are concerned. | |
| Conclusion | This cake is supposed to be made up of aged teas from various years from 98 to 04. However, it tastes very young and hardly "aged" at all. The tea has good brewing strength, but needs to be set aside for a couple of years to settle down. I wouldn't be surprised it it turned into something really nice with time. | |
