Background    THIS TEA IS FERMENTED AND THEN COMPRESSED INTO 100 GRAM MINI TEA CAKES. THE LEAVES ARE OF THE SMALLEST TYPE OF PUERH TEA LEAVES.

Dry Leaf Appearence:    VERY SMALL LEAVES, MOSTLY WHOLE. THE COLORS OF THE LEAVES ARE BLACK, DARK BROWN, AND SOME GOLDEN/YELLOW COLOR.

Water to Leaf Ratio:     12 gr of Leaf in 130 ml of water

Brewing Method:    GONG FU STYLE, YIXING/PURPLE CLAY TEA POT 130ML, YIXING/CLAY TEA POT HOLDER, YIXING TEA CUP WASHING BOWL, YIXING GAIWAN, CLEAR GLASS SERVING PITCHER VESSEL 250ML, METAL MESH STRAINER, METAL MESH STRAINER HOLDER, TEA CUP CLOTH PADS, TEA TOWEL, WHITE CERAMIC PRESENTATION VESSEL, PUERH TEA KNIFE, BAMBOO TEA TRAY WITH DRAINAGE RECEIVER, CHA DO TEA SET TOOLS, 110V ELECTRIC METAL KETTLE, CERAMIC WASTE WATER BOWL, GRAM WEIGHING SCALE, HOT WATER THERMOMETER. ALL BREWS WERE OF APPROXIMATELY 130ML SPRING WATER (STORE BRAND) WITH TEMPERATURES RANGING BETWEEN 99 TO 101 DEGREES CELSIUS.

Wet Leaf Appearence:    THE LEAVES KEPT SOME COMPRESSION. ALL THE LEAVES TURNED TO A SHINY DARK BROWN OR BLACK COLOR AND RETAINED WATER WELL. THE BROKEN PIECES WERE MORE VISIBLE. THERE WAS NO DULL APPEARANCE.

1st Steep    15 SECOND WASH, 120 PRIMING, 15 SECOND BREW, NICE DARK BROWN COLOR, GOOD SWEET FLAVOR, THE TASTE LEFT AFTER SWALLOWING WAS NEUTRAL, A FLAVOR DID RETURN TO THE BREATH BUT IT WAS NEITHER SWEET NOR SOUR, RATHER IT WAS IN BETWEEN, THE TEA ENERGY OF THIS BREW WAS STRONG ENOUGH THAT IT AWAKENED THE SMELL AND TASTE SENSES.

2nd Steep    20 SECOND BREW, NICE DARK BROWN COLOR SOUP, THE LIQUOR IS NOW SWEETER, THE AFTERTASTE IS STARTING TO BE SWEET, LIKE A SWEET NOTE OF A DARK CHOCOLATE, SAY 75% COCOA, THIS TYPE OF FLAVOR IS NOT LIKE A SWEET SUGARY MILKY CHOCOLATE FLAVOR RATHER IT IS OF A RAW CHOCOLATE FLAVOR, AT THE SAME TIME THIS TASTE IS ALSO MIXED IN WITH A NOTE OF A ROASTED HAY GRASS OR VEGETAL FLAVOR, THIS IS ONE OF THE FLAVORS (CHOCOLATE & WOODY) OF TRUE PUERH, NOTHING ELSE TASTES LIKE IT, HARD TO DESCRIBE, HARD TO UNDERSTAND IF YOU HAVE NEVER SAMPLED COOKED PUERH, YET IT IS AN ADDICTIVE TASTE, I WANT MORE.

3rd Steep    30 SECOND BREW, GOOD DARK RED COLOR SOUP, THE TASTE IS ONCE AGAIN A SWEET PUERH FLAVOR CONSISTING OF NOTES OF A RAW CHOCOLATE, WET VEGETAL, EARTHY, WOOD LIKE, THESE DIFFERENT NOTES DANCE AROUND THE MOUTH, THEY COME AND GO, BUT THE OVER ALL EXPERIENCE IS STILL SWEET, THEY ALL COMBINE TO PRODUCE A GOOD HARMONY, VERY TASTY.

4th Steep    45 SECOND BREW, NICE RED COLOR, THE TASTE IS AS BREW #3, BUT THE SWEETNESS IS MORE PRESENT BECAUSE THE OTHER VEGETAL, WOODY, EARTHY NOTES HAVE SETTLED DOWN, LEAVING THE SWEETNESS MORE EXPOSED, AGAIN THE OVERALL TASTE IS A SWEET FLAVOR UNIQUE TO PUERH.

Subsequent Steeps    80 SECOND BREW, LIQUOR IS NOW DARK ORANGE OR REDDISH, THE STRENGTH OF THE TEA HAS NOW DECREASED, THE GOOD SWEET UNIQUE PUERH CHOCOLATE WOOD EARTH TASTES HAVE NATURALLY WEAKENED AS EXPECTED AND NOW A NEUTRAL TASTE IS SIDE BY SIDE TO THE PUERH SWEETNESS. HAVE TO WORK HARD TO FIND THE DELICATE PUERH NOTES. SWEETNESS AND NOTHINGNESS ARE SIDE BY SIDE.

Conclusion    OVERALL THIS IS GOOD TEA. HOWEVER, IT WOULD BENEFIT FROM 3-4 MORE YEARS OF STORAGE TO HELP IT MELLOW OUT ALL THE DIFFERENT FLAVORS AND CAUSE IT TO PRODUCE A DOMINANT SWEET FLAVOR WHERE THE TASTES OF VEGETAL WOODY EARTH WOULD BE HARD TO PERCEIVE, THE TEA ENERGY CHA CHI IS GOOD AND SHOULD IMPROVE WITH PROPER STORAGE, I LIKE THE TASTE THIS TEA IS PRODUCING, BUT IT IS STILL FERMENTING, IT SHOULD BE A GOOD BUY, I RECOMMEND IT.

Sorry, no Photos
