| Background | A small tea factory produced just 400 kilograms of this Nannuo Mountain tea from century old trees on the summit. Spring harvest material from just one area was sun-dried and compressed in the traditional manner. Taste a pure Nannuo area cake grown in a natural mountain environment. A single estate tea cake. | |
| Dry Leaf Appearence: | lots of reasonably small leaves, including white tips. | |
| Water to Leaf Ratio: | 10 gr of Leaf in 200 ml of water | |
| Brewing Method: | In a Yixing teapot and served in a western teacup. | |
| Wet Leaf Appearence: | leaves are still green, and on the whole mostly intact and smallish. Some full leaf systems can be found among the leaves. | |
| 1st Steep | A little bitter, probably left a touch too long in the pot, golden soup, but the tea has a strengh behind it that is noticeable. Not smokey at all. | |
| 2nd Steep | Tea is smoother and the soup a deeper golden. No bitterness. If anything the underlying strength of the tea has increased. It packs a punch. Maybe a lot of caffeine. | |
| 3rd Steep | Similar to steep 2 - the tea continues to be smooth, and still strong, with a touch of coating on the tounge. | |
| 4th Steep | Similar to steep 3. The tea continues smooth, strong with an underlying puch. | |
| Subsequent Steeps | I got at least 3 more steeps out of this. I finished before the tea did! | |
| Conclusion | I have bought more than one cake of this tea. Compared to other Nan Nou mountain cakes I have this one packs a real punch, but not in a nasty way. I suspect it will age well and the cake seems very good quality. Probably not a tea you should drink late at night though as I think it would probably keep you awake! | |
